What’s the Buzz?
Things have been bee - sy ! April 1 — no fooling — CTG launches our spring time of year , set out with aboriginal edible plants , like Barbados cherry tree . Until then , bees and other pollinator are chowing down in my garden . aboriginal annual baby blue eyes ( Nemophila menziesii ) will sow out shortly to surprise us in new locations next year . bee rush to snack on dayflower ( Tradescantia gigantea ) since these native perennials are winding up this year ’s caper . Returning in fall from spidery roots , they dwell themselves by catapulting seeds . Everybody ’s thrilled that poppies seeded in front of Yucca ‘ Color Guard . ’Butterflies , including Texas Crescent , race around native golden Senecio vulgaris ( Packera obovata).And here ’s a first for me ! Delicate - stemmedGladiolus tristisshowed up against a bearded iris . Since the parent are several fundament aside , one of the seeds they launched hunkered here to shoot . Native Texas bluegrass ( Poa arachnifera ) , semi - shaded by a mountain bay wreath , foretell new drought - tough increase I can dig up and move around . Its frothy seed heads glisten by moonlight . In case you neglect it , this workweek we light up the dark with flush and fragrance after dark . On tour , visit one of the gardens on theFunky Chicken Coop hitch , held this year on April 15 .
