My trip to theNorthwest Flower and Garden Showin Seattle would not have been complete without a tour of the Small Space Showcase on the Skybridge of the Washington State Convention Center . The NWFGS is known for their impressive big - scale of measurement display garden ( and , of course , their speaker series whichI was observe to participate inagain this twelvemonth ) , but I have to say that each year I am as as take by the smaller displays .
The plushy , full garden are drool - worthy dream space , something that I may never have if I continue to live on in a small urban footprint . I was pleased that the prowess and whimsy did not let down in the small space displays and at the exhibitor booths for those of us who do n’t have talkative yards to wreak with .

Edible Kokedama
You may have ascertain Kokedama , the Nipponese art of creating a cling moss garden , but have you visualize them with edible plants ? hemangioma simplex and herb were plant in this exhibit that had blackboard industrial plant tags held on by vintage fork . These darling designs were created by Patricia Ruff ofRocky Bay Garden Creations .
Her small infinite design was my favorite of the day with gorgeous moss art , vertical planting , and hypertufa that takes that cake .
Sculpted Hypertufa
Have you ever seen hypertufa planters that look so neat ? Patricia Ruff from Rocky Bay Garden Creations ( who made the kokedamas ) make these gorgeous organic planters that take care like nothing I ’ve discover before . I must instruct her secrets !
Hanging Hypertufa
Patricia also made hanging hypertufa planted with inset devil dog roach . This is one gifted lady .
Stylish Bug Hotels
I love a honorable bug hotel , and these did not let down . you’re able to see how to make onehere .
Vertical Succulent Gardens
I think just about anything can be turned into a succulent wall plantation owner now . From frames to royal heart , this show set out your DIY mind spinning .
Floating Iron Trellis

Wine Box Planter
It ’s a wide-eyed idea , but one that I love . A wood loge , a little vintage - style computer graphic , and some plants . This is perfect in a modest quad like a deck or balcony .
Wall Mounted Strawberries
While I ’m not a fan of a pallet garden , this strawberry wall planter has enough subtlety to appeal to my gustation . I ’m not sure if it was a pallet at one fourth dimension , but now it create a lovely infinite to grow Chuck Berry .
Something Unexpected
Hey , those are n’t tomatoes . But they are brightly - hued hyacinths in a vintage love apple crate . Part brainiac teaser and part pop of color . All in all , it works !
