A gardener uses a pond as a focal point
Today ’s pictures get from Linda Tutwiler in Pell City , Alabama . Here ’s what she has to say about her garden :
Our garden every twelvemonth seems to get skillful and better . My husband built the pool about 10 years ago , and we started working on the yard easy , pose in one industrial plant at a sentence . It is therapy to influence on something so rewarding . It is very relaxing to hear the piss from the waterfall and all the garden creatures ! My husband turn 80 years quondam this summer , and now we are thinking about trade our dimension . He just has to convince me first !
( For more of Linda ’s garden , check outthis earlier post . )

The pond forms a centrepiece of the garden . What a magical pip to produce around !
Zantedeschia aethiopica lily ( Zantedeschiasp . , Zones 8–10 ) blooming by the edge of the pool . There are many intercrossed arum lily lily in a wide colour grasp . In cold climates , the bulbs can be jab in the fall and replanted in the spring .
A bit of garden art nestled in among a diverse group of ferns .

Another view of the pond .
Gardening in Alabama mean choosing plants that thrive in red-hot weather . tropic plants like these banana and cannas certainly love the heat and front great .
This endearing driftwood bench is almost too pretty to sit on .

Bright annual bring color to this corner of the deck . rely on foliage for color instead of flowers mean this planting look good all year long , with minimal fuss call for .
The bright yellowed - and - orange - vein leaf of croton and the exotic , royal - pinkish bracts of hidden cone lily ( Curcumasp . , Zones 8–10 ) convey gloss to this shady spot in the garden . Curcuma is a tight congenator of the spicery Curcuma longa and is a wonderful option for tone garden in warm climate . Where it is n’t hardy , it can be overwintered indoors in a container .
