New Dahlias.

I grew seed from just four dahlia this year and I have about 100 works . I was going to give lots away but first I had to wait and see what the flowers looked like . In the end I planted all of them because they are all lovely . I had to labour up yet more lawn to accommodate them .

Here are the female parent flora . The single ones were of row magnet for pollinators and farm the most seeds .

‘ Honka Fragile ’   gave its star bod to many of its tyke .

Here are just a few of my beauties . you’re able to see why I have n’t given any away . They are all dissimilar and all gorgeous . I shall try seeds from some dissimilar ones next year and then I really will have to give some away .

If you have n’t tried growing dahlias from seminal fluid , it ’s deserving a endeavour . It ’s very easy and they flower in their first yr . And each one will be unique .

That ’s tremendous ! I would never imagine to uprise Dahlias from seed … hmmmm , another musical theme to ponder . 😉

One hundred plants ! What a panoptic range of color you acquire . Have you named any of them ?

I ’m surprised to hear that blooming dahlia plants can be develop from seed within a year ’s clip . I usually deadhead my dahlia as soon as the back petals crumple but perhaps I can coiffe to hold on to a plant or two long enough at the end of the season ( before I store the genus Tuber by to make way for the next season ’s plants in my cutting garden ) to allow seedpods to develop so I can give that a try .

These are really fantastic ! I am inspired to stress . Would have a go at it to see how you harvest the source , do you let it dry on the plant or take them off and dry at bottom ?
