A landscaper combines plants to great effect in his home garden
Today ’s photograph come from Russell Camp . For his day line of work , he manages about 2,400 acres of school campus landscape and sports greensward for a with child K-12 district near Atlanta . If that was my job , I consider I ’d be too tired to garden at dwelling , but the photos below show that Russell indeed loves to garden at home as well .
This lamb ’s ear ( Stachys byzantina , Zones 4–8 ) has silvery , hazy leave that counterpoint beautifully with the darker - foliage plant behind it .
Double purpletulips(possibly the form ‘ Royal Acres ’ ) in the saltation garden . Do n’t forget that for many of us , the time to plant tulips and other leap bulbs is just starting . It is n’t too previous to ensure your own springtime display just like this .

More of the tulips , with cherry red yellowviolas(Viola × wittrockiana , cool season annual ) blossom in between them . Violas andpansiesare perfect combination for tulip and other spring bulbs , as they fill in the blank space between the bulb to create wonderful carpets of colour . In mild wintertime climates ( zona 7 or so and warm ) , you may implant the viola in the fall when you put in the bulbs , and both will bloom their heads off in the spring . In colder climates , it is ordinarily better to plant the violas or pansies in the early spring .
A triple of containers . I love the dividing line of the rich - blue glazed clayware and the bright - pink efflorescence in each planter . There are some dissimilar plant in each container , but by pose to and reprize the same colour scheme , Russell has pull these three containers together into one visual whole .
Sometimes we pack container with loads of different plant life , but putting just one specimen in each tummy can be beautiful as well . The rich , rich colour of the hydrangea ( Hydrangea macrophylla , Zones 6–9 ) here contrasts beautifully with the subdued - yellowmarigold(Tagetes erecta , annual ) behind it .
