From nothing to beauty

My name is Heather , and my married man and I garden in Macon , Georgia . We moved into our historic home 13 class ago , and we set to play creating acottage - style landscapethat would allow us to growvegetables , enjoycut flowers , and still provide plenty of space for our untried children . About five year ago , we purchased the empty gravel parking lot next door to us . At this compass point , we created a potager - manner vegetable garden with Turkish boxwood border , put in a rock-and-roll course , and added many perennials . In our zone , it is super hot and humid , and we ’ve found that coneflower(Echinacea),black - eyed Susan(Rudbeckia ) , Salvia , daylilies(Hemerocallis),and native mountain mint(Pycnanthemum)perform well for us . I always plantzinniasandsunflowersin honor of my tardy grandfather , who always grew them . We also have a variety ofhydrangeasand David Austinrosesscattered throughout . Our sight is about a one-half acre and includes anoutdoor live spaceas well , but I ’ve just include picture of our favourite garden areas ( as well as a couple of “ before ” photos ) . It ’s been a DIY lying-in of love .

Before — there was really nothing here .
