It ’s hard to believe that Kara Morgan moved into her home with little cognition of gardening !
" When my hubby and I moved into our Redding , Connecticut home in 1999 , we had no intention of demonstrate garden in the 2.3 - acre grand . My gardening knowledge consist of planting impatiens in mountain . But our dear neighbor , affectionately have intercourse as " Oma , " had a yard full of stunning , well - manicured garden that burst with color throughout the intact growing time of year . It did n’t take long before I was joining her for spell of her garden , and learning about the many beautiful plants that were successful in her beds . I became inspire to put a few plant life in the ground to see what I could create .
Over the years we have cleared our property of many trees and produce several garden beds . I gladly accept cuttings and plants from Oma ’s garden , and moved plants around when they failed to be successful in a exceptional location . Our wooded yard offers mostly part - Lord’s Day and light shade , therefore , I have filled my bed with all variety of hostas , ligularias , rubeckia , spirea , coral bells , ferns , astilbe , phlox , and many more works that supply color and texture . To add interest and capriciousness , I have created arbors from perverted mountain laurel branches and used bluestone slab and river rock’n’roll from a family place in the Catskills to make paths and walls . As is probably true of most gardens , mine remain to be a work in progress .

I never expected to find horticulture so gratifying and gleeful ! I look onwards to the weekends when I can devote retentive hours to planting , edging , and creating a landscape painting that inspires me with its diversity of plants and winding paths . Gardening has become my abatement from the interfering employment week , a sanctuary of peace of mind , and a fashion to commingle my love of the open with my desire to create and bring up . "
