Aeonium arboreum’Atropurpureum ' is a cultivar ofAeonium arboreumintroduced and described by Dr. B. K. Boom in the Dutch journal Succulenta   in 1959 .

Aeonium arboreum’Atropurpureum ' is a much - fork-like succulent that forms mint rosettes of colorful parting at the ends of the branches . It rise up to 3 feet ( 90 atomic number 96 ) marvellous . The leaves vary colour through the seasons from reddish - green to recondite reddish - purple .

The shiny yellow , star - determine flowers appear in large pyramidal panicles in late bounce .

Tree Aeonium turn best in full sunlight during the cooler month and in coastal areas . When grown inland or during the summer , provide this succulent with afternoon or partial tint . Avoid placing Tree Aeoniums in sites with westerly sunshine exposure .

Though Tree Aeoniums tolerate various soil character , they prefer light , porous soil as long as they’rewell - drained . You may need to amend your planting site with sand and limestone chips . For container gardening , plant Tree Aeonium in a moderately moist medium with first-class drainage .

This drought - resistant plant hates water around its roots , so avoid excessivewatering . In the wild , these succulent go sleeping in summer , so water sparingly during the hot month , earmark plants to dry out between lachrymation . In the wintertime , reduce lachrymation to once per calendar month .
